Easy Everyday Wellbeing Tips

Published on 11 June 2025 at 15:20

Hey, let’s be real—life can get messy sometimes. Anxiety sneaks in, stress piles up, and honestly, it can all feel a bit much. While counselling and therapy are fantastic (full disclosure: I’m a big fan!), there are simple, everyday things you can do to keep your mental health and wellbeing on track.

Here are some of my favourite easy tips you can start right now.

Be Kind to Yourself

Your inner critic? Yeah, that voice that keeps telling you you’re not enough. It needs a break. We’re often way harder on ourselves than anyone else would be. Try talking to yourself like you would your best mate—kindly, gently, and with heaps of patience. Practicing self-compassion is an essential part of mental health support, and it can gently change the way you experience your emotions over time.

Get Outside

Even if it’s just for five minutes, stepping outside for some fresh air and sunlight can work wonders. It’s like hitting the reset button for your brain—reducing stress and lifting your mood. Being outdoors connects you with nature and encourages mindfulness. Tt’s one of those simple self-care moves that therapy encourages.

Take a Social Media Break

Social media can be overwhelming and sometimes downright stressful. Let’s be honest—scrolling through social media can sometimes feel like a full-time job, and not always a fun one. Try putting your phone down for at least 30 minutes each day. If you’re feeling bold, try deleting that one app that’s a real drain. You’ll be amazed at how much calmer and more present you’ll feel. Plus, you get extra time for things that truly matter.

(Personally this is one of my favourite tips).

Always Talk to Someone

Bottling things up? Not a great idea. Whether it’s a trusted friend, a qualified counsellor, or simply writing your thoughts down in a journal, don’t bottle things up inside. Sharing your feelings helps you process them and reminds you that you’re not alone. Mental health support isn’t just about big therapy sessions; it’s also those everyday conversations and reflections.

Learn to Say No

Setting boundaries is an act of self-care. You don’t have to say yes to everything or please everyone. Saying no protects your energy and gives you space to focus on what really matters—your wellbeing. Remember, putting yourself first isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.

Wrapping It Up

These simple tips, alongside professional counselling or therapy, can really help build your emotional resilience and wellbeing over time. Life throws curveballs, but having tools and support in place makes all the difference.
